15 Ways to Celebrate National Wellness Month

August 13, 2018 By Sheryl Kraft 11 Comments

August is Wellness Month, and more specifically, Wednesday, August 15th is National Relaxation Day!   And yes, in the perfect world there should be some relaxation built into every day, but too many of us let self-care take a back seat in our busy lives. If you already practice wellness, then maybe you don't need a reminder.  I try really hard to remember to incorporate wellness into each and every day- but my feeling is that there's always something new to learn and discover.  Just recently, I attended two fabulous media events in New York City  where I got an opportunity to see exciting new { Read More }

Five Beautiful Ways to Prep for the Onslaught of Winter

November 9, 2016 By Sheryl Kraft 2 Comments

With winter upon us - and the election finally behind us - your health and sanity are not  the only things in need of attention. Your beauty is an important consideration, too. After all, with colder temps comes drier air - and that air, in search of moisture, starts to suck it out of your skin and hair. And dryness equals wrinkles, breakage, and a reminder that being a so-called natural beauty comes at a price. That's precisely why I've gathered some helpful ways to prepare for the dry time of year. "Don't ever think you can't make a difference," President Obama just told our nation, on this day { Read More }

Bobbi Brown’s Makeup Tips

May 18, 2016 By Sheryl Kraft 4 Comments

Need any good makeup tips? Yeah, I thought so. Who can't use a refresher every once in a while?  Every time I sit down to apply makeup I wonder if I'm keeping up with my so-called midlife face, which seems to sprout those "extras" every time I look: extra lines, extra hairs (ugh! facial hair!) , extra sun spots. Looking in the mirror doesn't get dull, that's for sure! A recent beauty and style online edition of AARP featured some great makeup tips from guru Bobbi Brown. I'm featuring a few of them here (I know, it's a tease. To get the rest, click here.) Tip #1 – Good makeup starts with good skin { Read More }

Beauty Q: Help for Dry Skin?

July 23, 2015 By Sheryl Kraft 1 Comment

I got a short email today from one of my readers: "My skin used to be so oily, I was always complaining about the shine. And now that I'm going through menopause, things have changed. It's so dry that it feels like my face will crack! I'd like to get some oil back. Any ideas?" I can relate. My own skin used to be so oily and greasy that I'd never go anywhere without those anti-shine wipes. I swear, I kept that company in business. Of course, it was so long ago that I can't remember the exact name of the company, but wipes like that are still around, like these. And yes, I should have listened to my { Read More }

About Me

What’s this so-called midlife, anyway?

It’s a time of tremendous change, growth and opportunity. A time to re-evaluate our choices, our experiences and ourselves. A time to take what we’ve accumulated up until now and put it to work.

When I turned 50, many things changed...
