Help For Thinning Eyelashes

Published in: eyelash extensions, false eyelashes, how to get fuller lashes, How to grow longer eyelashes, how to have longer eyelashes, Latisse, mascara, products that grow eyelashes, Rapidlash, ways to get your eyelashes to grow

I know you want to bat your eyelashes again.

But they’re either too short, too sparse, too thin or too meager.

Whoever said you can’t be too rich or too thin clearly didn’t figure eyelashes into the equation.

So, what can you do?

I’m glad you asked.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains a surprise giveaway. Read all the way through and you’ll see what I mean. (Although if you cheat and go right to the bottom, I’ll never know. But you’ll miss some useful things.)

Swipe it.

Mascaras can create a so-called trompe-l’oeil effect (Always wondered how to pronounce that French word for “deceive the eye?”)

Mascaras have super-powers: They can lengthen, thicken, elongate and volumnize. Some that I’ve tried and liked include this one by Maybelline, this one by Clinique, and this one from Benefit.

Sure, mascara is temporary. But so is fame…and it’s nice while it lasts.

Fake it.

I remember trying false eyelashes as a teenager. I’d venture to say I was somewhat clueless… and always ended up looking like I was trying too hard wearing false eyelashes.

I haven’t gotten up the courage to try again. Because sometimes the past is best left at just that.

But…there are tons on the market and they do look tempting and much more user-friendly than before.

Some things do get better with age.

Extend it.

Eyelashes are applied for you. Individually. One. By. One.

I’d say it’s a painstakingly slooow process. Other people would say it’s so worth it.

The eyelashes can last up to two months. They come in silk, mink or natural hair.

Haven’t done it (yet) but I don’t think I will. (I have enough trouble sitting still for my twice-montly gel manis).

But I have seen people with eyelash extensions and they do look mighty good. If anyone did want to get eyelash extensions, it might be worth looking for some natural eyelash extensions to get you started. Extensions would help people to experience fuller lashes. Perhaps they’re worth trying.

Prescribe it.

That’s what you want to ask your doctor if you choose to use Latisse, a prescription treatment to grow eyelashes.

lt was actually discovered by accident. When people with glaucoma started using the prescription eyedrop Lumigan, they noticed an unexpected side effect: their eyelashes were growing longer, thicker and darker.

Apply it daily along the last line of your upper eyelid. Tick tock..in about four weeks your eyelashes will be amazing.

Win it. Rapidlash

Rapidlash is one of those magic serums on the market that helps enhance, condition and strengthen eyelashes, no prescription necessary.

A single brush stroke. Nightly. On lashes or on brows.

This really works – I know, because I’m using it. (And all this time you thought I was naturally blessed with thick eyelashes. Fooled you.) You can see results in as little as 30 days.

What it’s got: “A unique proprietary mix of six highly effective ingredients including essential proteins, vitamins and other moisturizing and rejuvenating ingredients.” The brand has trademarked the name “Hexatein 1 Complex.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.

The Giveaway! One reader will be randomly selected to win their very own tube of Rapidlash, valued at $49.95.

However, I know some of my friends have been using different serums that seem to have really enhanced their natural lashes. A few of them are currently using the Xlash serum and they’ve all given pretty good reviews. Sometimes, it’s down to trial and error with serums. What works for some people’s eyelashes, might not work for yours. It’s all about finding the products that impact your lashes the most. Have a look around before purchasing the first one you see!

Stick with it.

Rapidlash and Latisse require dedication. You not only have to remember to use them, but you have to keep using them. If you don’t, your eyelashes will be like Cinderella’s coach and turn back into a pumpkin what they were before they were long and luscious.

Dedication, as always, pays dividends.

Do it.

Make sure to include a niggling BeautyQ – that stands for “beauty question” – in your comment. (Because I want to write about what you wonder about. There must be something you wonder about, no? If not, ask a friend.)

Sit back and wait for an email from me telling you that Friday the 13th actually brought you good luck.

Respond within 24 hours or else someone else will be batting their eyelashes (and thanking both you and me).

In case you missed it, information about culprits behind those thinning lashes

This sounds like a winner! What do you recommend for thickening the eyebrows? Will the same product work?

Yes, Joan, you can use it on eyebrows, too!

I loved the product you wrote about for facial hair, and this too sounds like a fairly easy to use help for thinning lashes (all these supports boost our self-confidence and help us deal with physical aging)! I’d like to know more about safe and helpful lightening creams or products for facial freckles/spots that as I age are becoming more visible!

Good question, Debra.. Hope to be able to get some good info for you.

I didn’t even know that was happening to me….even though I suspected!!! I would love a post about those damn aging spots! I may be middle aged, but I still want to look pretty 🙂

We all still want to maintain our looks..middle aged or not!

So far so good on the lash front! I will definitely keep it in mind, you just never know what this body is going to do! Thanks.

Well, Mary, you must share your secret of your lucky lashes! C’mon , spill…

I never thought it’d happen to me with all my hair. But BAM – there go some eyelashes and eyebrows. Women our age need this kind of product, Sheryl.

I’m with you, Cathy…but it’s a different type of hair, so there you go…

I want Rapidlash! I had it once and it worked. Well, my BQ is WHY do my already short lashes seem to break off at this age??? They are already short and sparse, so whyyyy? I think I hate this part worst of all the aging stuff! I wish I had lush lashes and hope the 13th is MY lucky day!

    • Sheryl says

      November 7, 2015 at 12:18 am

It’s nice when we find things that work, isn’t it? Sorry your lashes are breaking off…they do get more fragile as we age, I”m afraid.

    I use RapidLash and it’s great : )

I was going to ask about thinning eyebrows, but they’ve beat me to it above. I have, like, almost no eyebrows anymore! Or eyelashes, for that matter. What’s that they say about getting older? We have hair where it’s not supposed to be, and no hair where it’s supposed to be. 🙂

    Would love to try RapidLash.

As a blond, I have blond eyelashes that hardly show and never grow, something I always regretted. I had no idea that real options were available to correct the problem. Thanks for sharing this information!

What a great contest for a great product! MY BeautyQ is once you stop using rapid lash, do your lashes thin or do the effects already taken place last? Thank you!

I’m writing to express my admiration for the work you are doing!

I'm a young medical writer trying to get a foothold in the industry, so the portfolio you have on your website showcasing your accomplishments is something that I'm aiming to achieve.

I don't want to take up too much of your time, but I am hoping you can share some advice, tips, or guidance as I work on this, my lateral career change!

Thanks for taking the time to read this - I know you probably have much more exciting things to be doing, but just know that your work is inspiring me to continue down this writing path.
